Videoconferencing ~ Introduction "Without the videoconference teaching I wouldn't have been able to study Latin for GCSE and I would have really missed out ... THANK YOU! I'm finding that my knowledge of Latin vocabulary really helps me in my studies."
Latin teaching direct from the University of Cambridge is now available to schools thanks to our cutting-edge videoconference facilities.
For four years we have been providing schools with high-quality real-time videoconference teaching, both on and off the timetable. We recommend this approach to schools with students who wish to progress in Latin beyond Key Stage 3. The increased level of difficulty in the language at this stage makes it difficult for all but the very brightest students to achieve their potential without real-time teaching support.
Videoconference teaching is effective for groups of up to 12 students where frequent two-way communication is required, for example in
Latin GCSE and A Level
classes.
We are also delighted to be able to deliver one-off videoconferencing sessions on a variety of aspects of the ancient world (Greek and Roman) via our
Classics Now!
initiative. In these situations, many more students may take part in a novel learning experience.
If your school does not yet have videoconferencing facilities, you may wish to
hire equipment
in order to run a trial. If you do so, please also read the details of the
required technical infrastructure.
To help schools assess the viability of using videoconferencing for teaching and learning, we have summarised the
costs
involved.
